The average protestant pastor in the United States has a tenure of less than four years. Having spent over 35 satisfying years with the same congregation, I thought it would be interesting to explore what makes a long-term pastorate work.

Rick Warren on Longevity

I'm not a great fan of some of Rick Warren's ideas, but his post entitled, "Pastoral 'free agency' hurts churches," is right on target.

Among other things, he says, "The truth is pastoral longevity is one of the untold secrets of church health."
